Is your Company a Comedy, a Drama or a Horror Film?

With the Academy Awards just around the corner, I invite you to you ponder what award you want to be nominated for in the movie called, “Your Life.” Would it be best director, producer or best actor or actress?

Let’s look more closely at how to create an award-winning “film”. If you viewed your life and business as if you were creating a movie, you would break it down into a few different pieces.

I. First, there would be the plot or the theme.

II. Second, you would then carefully cast your star players, the actors, and script their parts so the picture would be compelling.

III. Third, as the director, you would ponder the intention of each scene and choose the perspective that is in alignment with your vision.

Let’s take a look at your business with this metaphor in mind . . .

Is your company a comedy, a drama or a horror film? What is the title of your film? Is it Slumdog Millionaire, Life is Beautiful, or Almost Famous? Once you decide what your genre or focus is, break down the movie of your life scene by scene. These are the intentions you want to create that depict what you want to accomplish.

It’s audition time! Who are going to be the players in your film? What are the qualities of the stars? (Your staff!) Who are your supporting cast members and what attributes do they bring to the table? From there, decide what lens you want to use as the director. In your business, this is your mindset. How do you see yourself as a leader and how do you see your team in helping you create the success that you want?

Having all of this in place may not win a real Oscar, but it will set you up for success. Put your focus and attention on what you want! This allows you to create a plan to support that attraction.
